I wrote these scripts because I wanted a quick way to switch between access options using eudora (I usually leave it active, but sometimes I don't want it to dial in because I need the phone available). The scripts are slightly different for Eudora versions 1.4/2.0 and 1.5/2.1 (1.x is shareware, 2.x is commercial). There are 3 scripts for v1.4/2.0, and 4 for v1.5/2.1 because offline is set up differently in the 2 versions.
The scripts included are: Eudora MacTCP, which sets Eudora to use MacTCP for connections; Eudora Comm Toolbox, which sets Eudora to use the CTB with a modem (Communications settings must be preset to work automatically); Eudora Offline, which sets Eudora for offline reading (no connections); and Eudora Online, which only works with v1.5/2.1 and unchecks the Offline box. The Online script does not change the connection method, so MacTCP or the CTB will be used, whichever was previously set.
The scripts are compiled as applications and not editable, although I would consider sending the script source on request. They require the AppleScript and QuicKeys OSA Component extensions, as well as the Wait... extension to QuicKeys that come with Apple's Plaintalk Software. If you do not have AppleScript or Plaintalk you gan get the disk images from ftp.support.apple.com. Both require System 7, and although Plaintalk requires either an AV Macintosh or PowerMac the QuicKeys OSA Component does not and can be installed manually. The best way to get these files is to download Plaintalk 1.3 disk images 1, 3 and 4 and install AppleScript with the installer.
The Eudora Connection Scripts are copyright 1995 by Joshua S. Megerman, and released by Razer's Edge Software. They are distributed as Freeware, meaning that they can be distributed and used for free as long as the original package (scripts and documentation in its archive) is distributed unmodified. There is no warrantee on this software, nor any guarentee that they will work (if they don't, please tell me so I can figure out why and how to fix it!). Send all comments, questions and bug reports to me at megermjs@newton.physics.drexel.edu.
